Objectives
Understand the OEMS 2022 Police Dog Treatment Protocols:
Learn the didactic components of the new police dog treatment protocols, noting this course does not fulfill hands-on skills requirements or meet AR 2-270 standards under Nero’s Law.
Gain skills to provide temporary, urgent care to pets until veterinary or emergency care is available.
Understand how to care for animals before, during, and after an emergency situation.
Identify risks to pets and implement strategies to prevent injuries.
Develop plans for disaster preparedness that include pet safety.
Learn safety precautions for handling injured animals to minimize risks to both pet owners and pets.
Acquire knowledge and techniques to manage pet emergencies such as bleeding, bite wounds, cardiac arrest, choking, burns, poisoning, and trauma.

Credits Offered: This course is approved for 2.0 CE/CME credit.
Posttest: Participants must complete a posttest to assess their understanding of the material.
